- She loves playing with her toys so much! She has started to place smaller toys into containers, such as a basket, or the bottom of her exersaucer (which we get no use from anymore because Kate likes to be ON THE MOVE!).
- She pulls up on everything! She can stand for several seconds without holding onto anything, which makes me nervous but it's exciting! I'm sure walking will not be too far off - eek!
- She is starting to respond to simple commands. When we ask her to give us a certain item, she hands it over. If we ask her to give something to a certain person (Mama, Daddy, a grandparent) she gives it to the correct individual. If we ask her for a bite of food when she's eating, she'll either extend her hand to give you a bite... or she will shake her head no and laugh! She is so funny!
- When I sing to her or she hears music, she'll try to sing along. It is just gibberish in a sweet melodic tone, but it is so cute!
- She still loves to eat but likes to do it on her own! She eats from her pouches herself and likes to eat pinched-up finger foods much more than being fed by someone else. Her favorite foods right now are bananas, mac and cheese (who can blame her??), any breakfast-type foods (pancakes, waffles, french toast sans the syrup), and mashed potatoes.
- She loves drinking water out of her sippy cup. It took her awhile to get the hang of this, but the Nuby sippy cups helped her to really learn how to correctly drink out of one.
- She can identify certain items, such as her baby doll, toy dog, duck, and other things. If we ask her where one of these things are she will point or pick it up.
- She is learning new words all the time! Her favorite word is still "baby", but she also likes to say "duck (duh)", "cat" (with an intense emphasis on the "c"), "dog", and "Kate". If you tell her, "Hi Kate!" she tries to say "Hi Kate!" back to you! She also makes this funny little noise with her mouth and we think she's trying to say, "What's that?". Who knows though...
- Kate has recently had some trouble going to bed at night for some reason! We certainly hope this phase passes soon!
- Kate loves playing in the bathtub... until time to wash her hair! She still does not like getting her hair washed, and she lets you know it! As soon as she hears you run the water to fill up the cup to pour water over her hair, she pulls up and stands up on the side of the tub and refuses to sit back down. This certainly makes it difficult on Mommy when Daddy is out of town!
- Kate is EVERYWHERE! She keeps us hopping all day long with her love of exploring. We are in the process of converting our front room to her play room and I can't wait to get it finished! It will be so nice to have an area just for her to explore and play!
